Battlefield V Will be Officially Debuted Next Week

Today, the Battlefield Twitter confirmed that Battlefield V is coming soon (surprising nobody). EA will be doing a live stream on May 23rd which will be hosted by the host of the Daily Show: Trevor Noah.

Trevor Noah seems like a bit of an odd choice for a host. However, this is game is trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience, and talk show hosts are all the rage at the moment. Nevertheless, I can’t say I expect much from the live stream. We might get a CG trailer, and a few minutes of heavily scripted game play. We know that Battlefield V is supposedly following in the footsteps of Call of Duty and making another World War II game. This isn’t a huge surprise, given that Call of Duty WWII was seen as refreshing by the general public. That is a bit of an interesting change, as just a few years ago, another WWII game would appear mundane and tiring.

The game is also reported to possibly feature a Battle Royale mode, which I sincerely hope it doesn’t. Not only would it be too late for the genre, it isn’t a mode that would help the game. Unlike wave shooters or zombie modes, a Battle Royale game would take a large amount of time to produce, and I don’t think it would be worth it.

However we do know it will have a single player campaign which is a very good sign. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 reportedly won’t feature a single player campaign. Which would be a big loss for the few of us who enjoy the single player narratives. Battlefield’s sticking with campaigns could also show it is moving away from Call of Duty.

Either way, we are excited to see what happens next. Expect to see more coverage in the coming weeks.
